UK Aid Not For Hurricane Irma-Hit British Overseas Territories As They Are Wealthy
Any part of the 13 billion aid budget for British overseas territories will not be funded in the hurricane rescue effort in the Caribbean, said British government on Wednesday citing they are too wealthy to qualify.
Conservatives have been criticizing the government for long for being too restrictive in the definition of combating poverty.
Meanwhile, one another announcement just ahead of this looks very disturbing as the government features indifference quality for the region. British Prime Minister Theresa May announced further 25 million pound aid to Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands, Both are British overseas territories and have been lately wrecked by hurricane Irma.
British foreign secretary Boris Johnson also made a visit to the British Caribbean islands conveying the people need help with putting the hospital, airport and schools in running condition as well as support in power generation.
The minister was in Barbados on Tuesday and thereafter reached Anguilla in a military flight.
Until now 57 million pounds have been transferred for the help of Anguilla and it is learned from officials many more millions are required for the reconstruction work.
It is alleged the visit of Johnson was a PR stunt, but the minister dismissed and said, “This has been long-planned ever since the hurricane broke… They’ve never seen anything like it for 150 years. People don’t realize that these are British people, there are British islanders and we have a duty to them.”http://www.dailynewsz.com/uk-aid-not-for-hurricane-irma-hit-british-overseas-territories-as-they-are-wealthy/http://www.dailynewsz.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/UK-Aid-Not-For-Hurricane-Irma-Hit-British-Overseas-Territories-As-They-Are-Wealthy.jpghttp://www.dailynewsz.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/UK-Aid-Not-For-Hurricane-Irma-Hit-British-Overseas-Territories-As-They-Are-Wealthy-300x300.jpgworld newsboris johnson, british overseas territories, hurricane irma, irma
