A new study reveals the sperm count in men has declined in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, but not the same was found in men from Asia, Africa and South America.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem conducted the survey of 42,935 men between 1973 and 2011 and found the sperm count declined by 50 to 60 percent.

The report is highly disturbing and throws some light on the longstanding debate among scientists whether sperm counts have declined or not.

For years scientists have been concerned about increase in abnormalities in male reproductive health including testicular cancer.

Experts say more research need to be done to find the cause of sperm count decline as there are some geographical differences.

More research is required to know whether exposure to specific pollutants is the cause or the genetic differences.

Details of the study are published in The Conservation magazine and it writes if the foetus is affected what can a man do.

In today’s era the exposure to chemicals like bisphenol A has increased and this is believed to have affected fertility.

Men should limit exposure to toxic chemicals like stopping cigarette smoking.

Apart from all these, researchers adds men should follow a healthy lifestyle.

Earlier study found link between obesity and reduced sperm count.
