Man Arrested For Stabbing In Sydney Charged With Terror Attack
Sydney police has described the act of a man as that of terrorist one who is alleged to have stabbed a 59-year-old man and also attempted to attack an officer.
According to Australian Joint Counter Terrorism Team the attacker has been charged with committing a terrorist act as he had attempted murder after stabbing a man several times.
The victim is hospitalized and is still in critical condition.
The 22-year-old Ihsas Khan was arrested after he tried to stab a responding officer Saturday afternoon. It is learned he yelled “someone is going to die today.”
Meanwhile the New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner Gatherine Bum said in a press conference that attack was one of a premeditated nature as it tried to lure police into an attack.
Bum added some degree of planning was seen in the attack and was inspired by the ISIS militants group of Syria and Iraq. It is said he has strong extremist beliefs.
Police said there is no ongoing threat related to the incident in the area.
The suspect is due to appear in court on Sunday.
The New South Wales police arrested earlier this year a teenage boy on suspicion of plotting a terror attack on an Anzac Day Ceremony.
