The vintage Rovos Rail tourist train kicks off the epic annual journey on Monday from Cape Town in South Africa and will reach Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam city after two weeks on Saturday.

The luxury train to travel through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania.

The tourist sites to be covered by the train include historic village of Matjiesfontein, the diamond town of Kimberley and capital city of Pretoria and Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa.

In Botswana the guests will spend a night at the Victoria Falls Hotel and thereafter to cross Zambezi River to Zambia. At the end the train will join Tanzania Zambia Railway to Chismba Falls.

The Rovos Rail train will cover 6,100 kilometers in the two-week journey. It is an annual journey on a vintage Edwardian Train.

The train is also called as Pride of Africa and follows Cecil Rhode’s trails. It is a life-time ride for tourists and carries 21 old wooden coaches dating back to the late 1890s. It is pushed by steam engines and has a capacity to accommodate 72 passengers in its modified 5-star hotel facilities.

The train made its first maiden journey in July 1993 to complete Cecil Rhode’s dream of a linking railway line between Cape Town in South Africa and Cairo in Egypt covering places between southern most of the continent to extreme northern part.
