HP is the global market leader in selling the most number of PCs, reveals latest quarterly report by research firm IDC.

Lenovo finds the second spot and next to it is Dell that grew decently over the past year. In the fourth place is Apple and thanks to its Mac business that is worth $25 billion now. Acer has silently taken the fifth position.

The PC sale has increased and in 2016 more than 60 million units were shipped. This is the first year-over-year market growth in five years thogh only up by 0.6 percent. However, it is a sign the PC market has started stabilizing after years of tablets and smartphones era that captivated the major share.

Experts believe the growth appears to include popularity of Google’s Chromebooks, but another report from Gartner that does not count Chromebooks as PCs said the market declined by 2.4 percent year-over-year.

The news is not good for Microsoft as its shipment has declined in total and could further go down.

On May 2 Microsoft is learned to be unveiling a lighter version of its Windows that experts believe to be directly competing with Chrome OS.
