France Wants Facebook To Stop Data Collection Of Non-Members
It was India first and now France too has joined telling Facebook to Zuck off.
It is said the social giant has sent data of members to United States and this has been the complaints of France based on the safe harbour laws of Europe.
Lately the chair of France’s Commission Nationale Informatique et Libertes (CNIL) has said Facebook to stop doing the same. It said the platform should no more send data of members offshore as it has not legal basis for data processing under the law of the country.
The data of members include stuff like political views and sexual orientation.
More to all these, the CNIL is also lately concerned about the Cookies of the social platform on devices of those who visit Facebook but are not the members of it as data collected includes browsing history too.
France is also looking for the Facebook to provide an explicit opt-in tick box for users’ consent to data collection.
If you are in France, do share your views whether the new statement of CNIL is really for the safeguard of citizens.
