Florida Tourism Up Despite Zika Virus Fear
It’s a record-breaking tourism this year in Florida even though cases of Zika virus have been recorded. About 57.4 million people visited the state in the first half of 2016, between January and June.
In the first half of last year the visitors count in Florida was around 54.1 million.
According to a data, 1.2 million Floridians are currently employed in the tourism industry.
Governor Rick Scott said, “When we get all these tourists here we create jobs, people want to come to our state, we have wonderful weather, we have wonderful restaurants, we have amusement parks, beaches, all these things.”
Scott added further the state will convince tourists the issues in the state is under control amid battle with the Zika virus and water quality affecting some beaches issues. It is important to keep the people informed how Florida deals with Zika, hurricanes, tropical storms, and other viruses too including Dengue and chikungunya.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was asked earlier this week what he would do for the prevention of further spread of Zika virus. He replied Scott was handling the issue well.
Scott said currently Barack Obama is in White House and after November there won’t be Zika issue in the state.
Zika virus is also the problem for Brazil, but it didn’t stop the Olympic to happen.
