Facebook was flooded with a new reaction emoji on Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day. The cheery purple flower button popped up on the timelines of users, making it perfect to show “thanks” to mums.

Mother’s Day is celebrated globally in about 80 countries including America.

The little flower joined to the six existing emojis like haha, sad and angry. It was made available in every story, every picture and status update shared on Facebook.

The special reaction was rolled out temporarily and is not yet known how long it will appear on the social platform. Last year too the button was added around the same time on the social platform.

The British users were not able to notice new emoji, but they were able to read the thankful reactions of other non-UK Facebook users in the country.

The purple flower emoji proved popular in all the countries where it was made available and the US users were found excitedly flooding posts with it.

Facebook has been recently experimenting such reactions and to study the ability of users to react to the comments and posts.

It is also learned the social giant could start streaming original TV shows this summer.

Facebook-owned Instagram too had come up with some new stickers for the occasion. Users were able to add those to the photos and videos snapped though the camera app. More than one sticker were facilitated to be added to single photo or video.
