CNN Journalistic To Remain Independent After Timer Warner Acquisition: AT&T
AT&T has vowed to keep journalistic independence of CNN after acquiring parent company Time Warner.
In latest development it is reported the wireless carrier giant has paved ways of acquiring the entertainment company at $85 billion. The megadeal was announced on Saturday.
AT&T chief Randall Stephenson said Sunday CNN would remain independent if they own the Time Warner.
Writing to a former AT&T executive Jim Cicconi through email the chief said, “CNN is an American symbol of independent journalism and First Amendment free speech… We must protect the creative talent throughout the Time Warner business.”
He added the talent must know they will afford same creative license after the acquisition as they are enjoying today and this is something important.
Earlier, in the presidential election campaign the Republic nominee Donald Trump attacked CNN along with couple of journalists and branded the Cable News Network name as Clinton News Network alleging favoritism toward rival Hillary Clinton.
Cicconi retired last month as top Washington policy executive of the company.
As of now AT&T is a leading content transmitter through cable, DirectTV satellite service and wireless telecom businesses.
Time Warner also owns Warner Bros., HBO, Cartoon Network, TBS and other cable networks.
Meanwhile, former CNN president said has no reason the wireless carrier would weaken CNN.http://www.dailynewsz.com/cnn-journalistic-to-remain-independent-after-timer-warner-acquisition-att/http://www.dailynewsz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/CNN-Journalistic-To-Remain-Independent-After-Timer-Warner-Acquisition-ATT.jpghttp://www.dailynewsz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/CNN-Journalistic-To-Remain-Independent-After-Timer-Warner-Acquisition-ATT-300x300.jpgBusinesscnn,time warner
