BREAKING: 32 Missing After Landslides By Typhoon Megi In China
Heavy rains have triggered two landslides in the eastern Zhejiang province of China leading to the missing of about three dozen people and sweeping away of several homes.
The hard hit is Sucun village in Suichang county where 26 people are reported to be missing.
TV footage showed a mass of debris sliding down from a mountain.
Xinhua news agency reports 15 people have been rescued so from the landslide spot.
The agency added further more 6 people are missing in Baofeng in Wencheng county.
The heavy rain came with Typhoon Megi that hit neighboring Taiwan earlier this week. Four people were reported to be dead and 625 others injured before the high velocity wind reached mainland China.
In Fuijan one people has been reported dead and two million homes are facing power cut. The typhoon has brought severe flooding too.
According to local media reports, some of the Fujian areas have received rains of more than 300mm in past two days.
Earlier CNN predicted Typhoon Megi may dump heavy rain of between 300 and 500mm that could cause mudslides and landslides.
